"Vanessa Moore proves with Jewels, that she is a transfixing storyteller. Reading Jewels kept me at the edge of my seat from page one. From the undisputed streets of New York to the sunlit island of Antigua, Jewels follows the tale of two half-sisters, Diamond and Sapphire, both alike in dignity and dismay. At first glance, these girls appear to be gluttons for punishment, earning their respective hard knocks when it comes to navigating tough avenues of adolescence: dating, love, school, and stringent family dynamics. But with experience, determination, and warmth for each other, Diamond and Sapphire develop a sagacity to wade through difficult situations and triumphantly stand on their own. A book flooded with the most captivating twists. Be prepared to experience a full spectrum of emotions. This fiery story is quite a rare gem."

"What is to be said about this coming of age story???
Although I had tons of friends as a teenager, I always felt like I was alone in some of the challenges I faced. If asked I wouldn’t be able to accurately describe my feelings during those years.
Ms. Moore really put into words a descriptive journey of two sisters and all things that encompass being a teenage girl. From family issues, to friends, boyfriends and everything in between we are provided with the most captivating, realistic, emotionally charged and entertaining story.
Diamond and Sapphire really had me in my feelings. There were several moments where I thought Ms. Moore was telling my story. Not only mine but the story of so many women. This story takes us back down memory lane when life was oh so simple but hard at the same time. One of my favorite parts was reading how Diamond really started to come into her own. Then, Sapphire waking up from the fog she was in. It was a rebirth for both Sisters.
Now that I am older I understand the sacrifices of our parents. I understand that they raised us the best way they knew how. As a mother myself, I related to Patrice more than Judy. I honestly wanted to jump in the book and give Sapphire what she was looking for. LOL!!!!"
